Alas no I didn't. I calmly told her I was tired of apologizing and changing myself.
The argument was over bullet chess. She disapproves of the fact that I mostly play bullet and blitz and she resents giving me advice and teaching me skills because she thinks I wasted her time playing in crazy fast time controls that are mostly about speed and reaction time. She felt I should have 'let her know' that I 'didn't care about chess' so that she didn't have to waste her time...
I pointed out that I do also play long form chess as well as bullet and blitz and she lost it and swore at me.
She has known since our FIRST EVER CONVERSATION that I was into speed chess. I don't know how she came to feel that I deceived her.
This is weird controlling behavior.
Faster time controls are the future of popular chess. The number of people willing to spend 3-5 hours over a board on a regular basis are small.
I played classical chess many years ago. I didn't enjoy it. I love Rapid and some Blitz. I will even play daily games, but over-the-board classical is probably something I'll never do again at a competitive level. It is a dying format.
