well your question brings up multiple points so i will try and answer all of them in a way that you will understand. i'm not going to go back and forth on this all day so if you don't understand everything i have to say i encourage you to look and i mean actually look at all the things i bring up. you bring up punishments for the sin of man. many laws of the old testament have punishments of death. the punishments for all these sins were the responsibility of government to enfource. since we don't have the same government as then, it's only natural we don't have the same laws. since we don't have the same laws we don't have the same conciquences. it's about government, not morality. we still think adultery, murder and such are wrong but the punishments are for government to enforce.
second point about intolerance for other religions- you may not know this, but since christianity's founding, we have been tought to be kind to non believers and take a friendly approach to changing minds. yes, there have been those who have been aggressive, but these approaches are not biblical. before christ, judaism was only for the sons of abraham so they did not have teachings of spreading the word of God. so this point is was never a part of christianity in the first place.
Genesis- you may consider this BS but many christians don't. i consider these stories literal. many are physically impossible but i think the one who created the laws of physics can defy them. some christians believe that these stories are not literal and as a result not entirely accurate. i don't. i don't make up the facts as i go along. i believe what is written in the bible. it says there was a global flood and i believe it. it says all humans are descendants of a single couple and i believe it. you can tell me science says otherwise but science changes as it goes along. there is always a new discovery that changes our perspective on everything making proving many scientists who "knew" this stuff wrong. today you may say science proves the bible wrong and tomorrow those theories will be replaced and junked. i believe science is important but at the same time be looked at in a skeptical mannor. i will not address anything about science vs the bible on this thread but if you believe my beliefs are inconsistent, then go ahead and say it. i will also not engage in any apologetic debates here because i have gotten my fair share of those and have concluded every athiest here is not willing to listen to the facts i present and often don't read my posts in entirety before responding. any logical inconsistency you find is welcome and i will address them.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
