Correction, a few extremely large corn growers have made arrangements with the federal government to receive subsidies. They then use these handouts to acquire larger tracts of land so that they can resubmit for yet more welfare the very next year. Welfare for the rich. The system in place is a good one, but it is a captive system (and that's where the trouble starts). Essentially, this "welfare" system is being used almost exclusively by entities which are among the largest landowners in the nation/world. Seems counter-intuitive, doesn't it?
