I'm sure you do, Mehmet. And perhaps it is wise to leave the discussion as it becomes clear to me that you have difficulty seeing past your own culture.

Is aleia's life a reflection of your culture?

So don't we, though. Aren't we all, myself included, wondering a little at his close-mindedness? I thought about this once before when talking with kilic. There are certainly some opinions that should not be held. However, who are we to say that he is close-minded when we think of him as odd? True open-mindedness would accept kilic's culturalism.

Well, I'm trying to do my best to be as open minded as possible to understand aleia. But I was also stating my own opinion on the issue, and no, it was not a cultural thing. I've seen similar familial values in Germany also, where only few people, with those being rather of the lower classes, going through the life experience that aleia went through. I'm certain that more educated and more socially stable families that are formed through a marriage do not have to have their children go through the troubles she did, and probably have moral standards similiar to mine.

I don't have a problem with him having his own values - I don't share the same as you or Alei even, and we're all three some tough ass bitches. But I have a problem with him coming in and telling her she has a child-like personality and all the other aspersions he cast simply because she doesn't live by HIS rules.

Well, I do think that she has a child-like way of thinking.
Besides, I'm telling her to live by the rules of the society that she lives in.

I'm not a sociologist, but I must add that I've known similar cases to aleia that fit a certain description, although still, very very uncommon cases.
