People who are too stupid and self-centered to take humans on an individual basis will allow the smallest thing - no matter how well behaved - to color their perception of the group. It doesn't matter if I never made another baby-eating joke again - if I said so much as a cross word about anything, some fundy could say "All Jews are mean" or "All atheists are mean."
We should be bridging the divide by teaching each other how we're similar and mocking stupidity. Making people laugh at their own retardation is an excellent ice breaker.
