You mean static from your brief vantage point GC? Good thing it has billions of years to work with eh? Speaking of that algae, The reason that I suggested that Chip familiarize himself with the University of Arizona's collection, is that they represent on of the largest groups of demonstrated (and still living) transitional forms available to us (and all in a very simple form of life). Looks like you should do the same.
