Some humans have invented time travel and endeavour to alter the course of history at some critical point to prevent the influence of religion on society.
They pinpoint several individuals at key points in history who were all killed but might have prevented the course of history had they lived.
But they only have limited power and can only save one of them and hope that this person will change history and bring in the Enlightenment against religion.
What do you think of this idea for a story?
Brian looked out of the smashed window of his once comfortable home. A dusty wind blew accross the wasteland that had been his town until the nuclear war or whatever had happened.
His only hope was the almost finished time machine in his basement.
He just needed one vital component to make it go, once he had that he would stop the war or divert the asteroid or whatever the fuck it was.....
