Why do you think atheists feel judged by Christians

The ones in my family just seem sad and worried for me. If they feel superior I don't pick up on it. I think I make them a little uncomfortable. My niece asked me once why I'm so much happier than her father, my brother. But I'm sure in her mind it was in spite of my non-belief, not because of it.

I've never tried to justify my beliefs to them nor have they asked me too. I suspect they are afraid that whatever I say might shake their belief more than it will mine.

I don't hate fundy Christians. I feel sorry for them. I don't suppose their lives are very satisfying, but I know it is possible to be a theist and have a healthy regard for themselves, others and this life. Some don't feel certain of an after life and don't care. They don't have to be at odds with science. Some ready the bible for its wisdom stories and don't care if every bit is inspired or true. I think contemplation of a God as a kind of personification of what is best, unshackled by a literal bible, could actually be enriching and uplifting. It isn't for me but it seems to be possible to be a very interesting and worthy person while being this kind of theist.

Do not feel sorry for me and I'm glad you do not hate people like me. My life is very satisfying, serving God to serve other is most satisfying. I also read the Bible for it's wisdom, wisdom from an omniscient God who makes my life better because I trust in Him. Believing the Bible is literal is not a shackling, it is liberating, to know God through Jesus sets one free when one will take the time to see the truth and live in a relationship with Christ. This is the nature of scripture.

In a word guilt.

Because the realities of the situation places all of us in the same boat we are all sinners to an equal degree, in that we are condemned to eternal separation from God because of our sin.

The ONLY thing the differentiates "us and them" is we have elected to accept the offer of atonement offered by Christ. This however does not mean we are better people nor does it mean we sin to a lessor degree that buys our way into heaven. It simply means "we" have accepted our sin and asked that it be forgiven. The fact that we do that, emphasizes a Fact that mosts Atheists have killed God (in their minds) to forget. All of this combined leads to simple guilt, even when absolutely nothing has been said to condemn those who do not seek forgiveness.

Or perhaps they know by reserving judgment you stand a better chance of seeking God. Nothing can be said to anyone who does not want to know God. "Conviction" (As the bible identifies it) or what you all have deemed judgment is supposed to be reserved for those who seek a reason to accept Christ. Not for those who deny Him.

Isn't the above that I put into bold judging, how do you know that some of the non-believers do not feel guilt. Even though one may say they feel no guilt that by no means is absolute, at least in my experiences with other.
