Since precious few have ever tried Christianity , except in what are called Great Awakenings, very few can claim to be doing God's will
Examples of missing or super-scriptural practices:
Nine gifts of the Spirit Paul spoke of, so common among the early Christians they abused them
No clue what imputed righteousness is, (Romans 5) and why we are lost and prone to hypocrisy without a revelation of it. Two major denominations expressly deny IR.
One man speaking every Sunday- totallly unscriptural per 1 Cor 12 and 14
Examples of doing the complete opposite (very common esp among Catholics but Protestants too):
Persecuting or killing heretics or "witches." Jesus clearly said to leave the weeds alone because heretic hunters will "uproot the wheat also" which is precisely what happened
Calling people "father" which denies the basic intrinsic "you are all brethren" equality of Christians
Worship of idols, exalting humans, making Mary equal to Jesus. More faith in humans than Godi.e following pastors doing stuff they made up out of thin air.
That's the short list, and just more evidence Chesterton was right, saying that the problem with Christianity is not that it was tried and found wanting.... it hasn't been tried
