Because fundie xtianity is an eschatological religion. It's raison d'etre is the end of the world. All of their reward comes from having their godboy come back so they can kiss his ass for eternity and, far more importantly, punish all the people they hate. That's why these shitheads keep inventing imaginary endings of the world in every century. Without an "end of the world" their religion is fucking useless even to them.
