God is just honoring your choices, and will hold you to them for an eternity.

Is god one of these assholes who thinks that a person can never change??

I think that is apart of the problem change will happen, but for all of the wrong reasons. Where we are now (outside of the acknowledgement of the glory of God) our hearts are allowed to reveal their true nature. However one's God's glory and majesty has been made undeniably known to us we will want whatever benefits us the most, even over and above what our true nature desires.

Here now with no confirmed promise of reward, we get to be who we really are. That doesn't change, only the circumstances do which yield different actions, but who we are always remains the same.
