It makes me wonder what the people who are around a couple billion years from now will be doing when the sun grows into a red giant and starts to roast the planet. Will they be praying to this deity for salvation? Will they be thinking that Jesus is somehow going to show up and rescue them?
It makes me think of a scene in the movie "I am Legend" (I believe it was near the start of the movie). New York City is an unpopulated wasteland with wrecked and abandoned vehicles everywhere. As the camera pans through the empty streets we see where someone has scrawled "God still loves us!" on the side of a truck. That made me laugh! But I'm sure the irony was lost on the brainwashed boobs in the audience.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?
