It's just that I've been digging around for some kind of facts and figures behind this stuff - again, not to take sides but initially to satisfy my own interest. If I'm out of line, then I'll quite understand.
Anyway, the closest I've found is this recent piece in the Miami Herald (so how relevant/accurate it might be, I have no idea. I just present it for information):
