Sure you may have to pay more tax, but it's money you'd have to spend on healthcare anyway; you'd probably moan if you had to spend a large amount in one lump sum. Obamacare isn't perfect - the tax-hating money-loving republicans have seen to that - but it's a fairer system than the current US one. The main problems with the NHS here in the UK are organisation and bureaucracy - which still plague pay as you need systems like in the US, whereas it doesn't break the bank to pay for your crucial operation, and doesn't give people incentives to avoid paying.
