And apparently it's projected to be quite close. I don't know, I don't think either candidate is that great.
That is one very misleading statement. You may be correct that both candidates are "not that great", but that doesn't make them at all similar. One, Obama, is less than ideal (in the opinion of many here) while the other (Romney) is an absolute disaster. Does that mean there is no difference between the two? Only in the minds of those who have not lived through much history and aren't informed -or- those who have lived through some history but have been unable to learn from it.
Personally I think Obama is intellectually superior to every single person on this website, hands down and myself included. He happens to inhabit the oval office at a time when the whole republican party has gone renegade, intent on tearing down the country enough to make "anyone else" seem a better choice. So should we vote in such a way as to get the member of that party elected? Should they profit from their reckless destructiveness? You know what I think.
Apropos the OP, I voted "not an atheist" but I suspect he has found a nuanced, deist stance which allows him to speak symbolically about the person of Jesus in a way that makes him electable (except by those who believe the republican accusations that he is a foreign born Muslim socialist).
