We need to shit or get off the pot with GB because we look every bit as bad as the Russians or Nazis we used to claim we were "better than."
Here's my contention. I said nothing initially about the case at all. I was merely pointing out that bald statements like that made in the OP are made in both sides of this debate and others. I point it out because I would like to see people use language that is not purposely designed to make it out to seem like there is more information than is actually there and use the proofs that are to make their points. I am guilty of this sort of overblowing myself sometimes. I would hope someone would point it out to me when I make statements for which I have no evidence.
That being said, of course 11 years should be way more than enough time. Eleven days is sufficient to file official charges. My argument is not about that. We cannot pretend that we know whether the man is innocent just because he never went to court.

No, but it matters when people make claims that he was one or the other without evidence. Say he was treated badly. Say he was tortured to death and those who did it should be tried. That is enough ammo. Why throw in a statement that lacks glue to hold it together? I had roughly the same argument today with someone who was arguing for the legalization of pot. I am all for it. What I am not all for is her mixing all of the facts with a statement like, "It cures cancer." She lost me there. Some people just need to be reined in before they jump right off the "I'm on a roll" cliff. I'm sure I'm not innocent of it.

It would not. That doesn't change that it lacks confirmation.
I'm rather sure that a sincere argument will be written off as bullying, though, so I am going to take my leave for now. This is one of those arguments where some parties cannot debate it and remain calm. It's sensitive like most human rights violations. Good luck, oh internet debaters!
