Not true. Many universities and colleges do have pre-law programs, however, it is not a prerequisite for going to law school. It's all about taking the LSTATs, an SAT type test that demonstrates one's supposed ability to perform well in law school. I've kicked around the idea of going to law school with my history degree, and I know several people who have attended law school without majoring in pre-law in undergrad, namely international affairs, history, and even one who has a BS (though I forget the field) who went on to law school.
