Aside from a border war against the Japanese in Manchuria in the late 1930's which lasted only a few months, the Russians didn't battle them in the Pacific on a scale that the U.S. and the Brits did...It was only after the war in Europe had ended did the Russians start an invasion into Japan...by that time the Japanese army and navy had already been pretty much weakened by the U.S.

Not only that but....we dropped two atomic bombs on them! I don't think the Japanese surrendered to minor Russian incursions into Manchuria. Those were just a land grab against a falling empire. It baffles me that anyone actually believes something else. I mean it's possible that Russia would of hastened the surrender if .we hadn't dropped two atomic bombs on them!

....considering that all of the anti-American hoopla and vitriol is coming from the left and from the europeans, they don't want to see it any other way....the left will take every opportunity to downplay and to demean the value of America's role in just about everything...the Russians did very little in the Pacific campaign, and by the time they started their invasion after the war in europe had ended the Japanese military had already been severely weakened by the U.S.....one year after Pearl Harbor, the Americans dealt one of the most decisive defeats in naval history to the Japanese in the battle of Midway....The Japanese navy never recovered....even before America entered the war, we were selling and providing a lot of military arms to Britain...I agree, dropping those bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima hastened the end of the war with Japan.
