So, if one can't blow candles out on a birhday cake at school, then what are they going to do to all the coughers? What if that kid sighs heavy when the test is handed out? Are we all now going to be subject to the breathing police? Not to mention the huggers of the world..

The school, Adam Road Primary School in Western Australia, said it introduced the ban because hugging at the school was "out of control with students hugging each other several times a day". The acting principal, Gemma Preston, said the rule was introduced last year after injuries and bruises caused by "overenthusiastic" hugs. A woman in South Australia, Fi Garde, wrote on Facebook that her six-year-old was punished during her first month at school for hugging.
"We are a huggy family, I've had to tell her after the bell goes you can hug 'til your heart is content but while at school high-five everyone," she said. "How sad."

It looks like there’ll be no trick-or-treating this year in a school in Seattle, Washington and Arizona as the administration has banned students from celebrating Halloween.

The school system in Cranston, R.I., announced it is banning traditional father-daughter and mother-son activities, saying they are a violation of the state's gender discrimination law, the Providence Journal reported late Monday.

Female students at the Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, N.J., stood up during homeroom Friday, raised their right hands, and recited a pledge in unison. "I do solemnly promise not to use profanities of any kind within the walls and properties of Queen of Peace High School. In other words, I swear not to swear. So help me God," they said.

Meanwhile, boys at the school were free to use whatever language they wanted.

Officials in at least two schools in Colorado and a school district in California have banned students from bringing in flags in an effort to calm emotions surrounding the debate over the country's immigration policies.

Parents, students and U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, are criticizing the bans -- which include flags from all countries -- saying they encroach on students' free speech rights while failing to address the increased tensions.

The temporary bans were implemented after tens of thousands of students across the country walked out of classes last week amid protests of immigration reforms being debated in Congress. A rally in downtown Denver drew more than 50,000 people on March 25.

A German school has decided to ban homework as a means to help kids feel less stressed over their schoolwork. The initiative will run as a test and then be evaluated at the end of two years.
