Then put another torpedo into it. Why take chances?
Because there are a lot of Catholics out there and when their ship goes down, they're going to take the rest of us down with them.
I'm still hoping we get a more liberal minded Pope. I'm not holding my breath for someone who will fully support same sex marriage or gender equality, but I can hope for someone who will take less of a hard-line stance on those issues. I can hope for a pope who will care more about preventing the spread of AIDS in Africa than enforcing the Catholic condemnation of condoms. I'm hoping we get someone who will make an effort to stabilize relations between Europe and the Middle East instead of poking the beehive with a stick. I'm hoping we get Pope who cares more about protecting children than he does with protecting pedophile priests.
That's what I hope happens, anyway. What I expect is more of the same. The only policy I see changing is that they may make some change over the sex abuse scandals. They're still going to tell people that condoms cause AIDS and they're still going to agrevate Islamic radicals.
