Actually, MuslimScholar has a point about being slaves. The purpose of religion is to have you submit completely to the will of god, as written in one of the many contradictory scripturres of incompatible religions. In Hevrew, a devout person is call an evet haShem, or a servent/slave of god.
The opposite of slavery is, of course, freedom. The more religious you are, the more that you embrace slavery. Orthodox and extremism in religion is an expression of that, and the activists who feel that if they have to be slaves, then anyone else in their club needs to be slaves too! And the more slavery, the better.

And in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (the only ones I have contact with), the more extreme the group, the more violent and oppressive it becomes. All for the sake of Jesus, Allah, or HaShem. More people have died for the sake of these religions than...well, I cannot compare to wars because they have made many of the wars.
