I agree and sorry if I wasn't clear. A moderate Republican would always be strongest in the general election but we almost never see one in the general election because they can't get the nomination.
That said, if Christie can make it to the general election, he'll have an easier chance. The GOP base can be counted on by their blind hatred of the Democrats, regardless of whoever gets the nomination. I just have serious doubts that Christie will make it that far but I could be wrong.
