There is an evolutionary psychological concept that men are more promiscuous because of the amount of parental investment they have to put into raising a child. Technically they only really need a few minutes and then they are done whereas women invest at least 9 months. A man spreading his seed as far as possible was benefitial. So you could argue that men are biologically predisposed to be more likely to cheat. However, this does not excuse what he did as he has a conscious mind and a choice over his actions unlike millions of years ago when our ancestors acted on instincts alone.
