You are right, cause god has done such a bang up job of preventing that kind of thing so far.
Do you really think these are new problems? Or could it just be that we now KNOW about these things happening due to increased media saturation?
Media saturation has nothing to do with it, such terrible crimes would not have escaped public notice, I grew up in the 50's and 60's and experienced the things going on then till now. I'm not going to turn a blind eye to what's going on in this country, it's on a steep downhill grade, maybe the younger generation can't see it, but those I grew up with can and that includes Christians and nonbelievers.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
