There does seem to be general agreement on the gist of this particular bit of holy horseshit among translators, though.
You don't want to get like G-C, catty. When confronted with an obvious turd in his bible he will assert some translation - known apparently only to him and/or shitheads like him - which disposes of the problem. You do not want to go down that road.
BTW, this particular passage serves a very obvious point. In the Greek myth of Deucalion some men survived the flood by climbing to the tops of various mountains. Well...it wouldn't do to have the jewish bullshit god outfoxed by mere mortals so this correction was written into the story....so that ONLY Noah and his merry band survived. When yahweh the bloody-handed stages a fucking genocide he wants it to be complete genocide, motherfucker!
It is also evidence that the bible tale was written after the Deucalion myth which first shows up in Hesiod (late 8th to late 7th centuries BC) which is not too long after the Greek alphabet began to spread into common usage.
