In my discussions with Creationists I'm often left feeling this same way. They simply refuse to accept anything that doesn't backup their own position. This is one of the reasons I started realize that Organized religion is BS.
In Science, evidence is used to rule out illogical or false conclusions. In religion conclusions are to be adhered to, no matter what.
