So he's not the same as an abusive parent despite doing the same things because he told us he is "loving and merciful", and if we don't live with him forever we'll burn in hell and be proven right about what we thought about him (being an abusive parent)?

We have the choice. Do you want eternal life? Yes or No?

I didn't ask you to judge god, I asked you to judge this hypothetical dad. I asked you if he was abusive, in your opinion, or is he Christlike?

But, he won't take abuse from us either! Just like I wouldn't take abuse from my children. If I couldn't help them with love and understanding, I would put them out of my house, and life if necessary.

So is this dad good or abusive? You think he's good now? So if a dad can abuse his child if his child refuses to say "I love you" or wants to move out when he's 18? And he'll be as good as God and not considered abusive. I'll agree he's as good as god. He's also abusive.

Abuse from us? Do you know what abuse means? Withholding love isn't abuse. Torturing someone is abuse.

Anyway, I don't want to live with god forever because i don't think I want to live forever, let alone with the same person for all eternity. Also he's not real, so, you know.

It's not free. It requires that I pay 10% of my earnings, and every Sunday of my life not working but going to church. It requires that I lie to myself constantly and abstain from "sins" such as sex before marriage and divorces (depending on what branch of Christianity you believe in), and also not have any abortions. It also requires that I swallow my disgust and worship a god that will send many of my friends to hell. I can go on, but I think you get the idea.

Is it so bad to say there is no god? That's not what I say anyway, I say I believe there is no god. Anyway, burden of proof and all that.

Actually yes it does. My buddhist greatgrandmother died when I was a Christian. It really hurt a lot, for many many nights I couldn't sleep thinking she was burning in hell. After that incident I stopped taking hell seriously. I wished that had been enough to make me an atheist, but I got there eventually so.

All we need do is ask Him in all sincerity! The answers come.
