It's-Why does the rationale of a supposed perfect being mirror that of a primitive human civilization?
Answer: no perfect being, the latter is all that existed. I guess this sounds crazy to you, eh Drich?
Exactly.
A supreme being that is supposed to be the origin of all morality should have know, that slavery is ALWAYS wrong, that stoning to death unruly children (even if they are teenage drunkards) is ALWAYS wrong, that sending a bear to tear apart a bunch of children for taunting a bald prophet is ALWAYS wrong.
Dritch - Please note that no advanced society today would consider any of these things moral ( even the Christians in those societies), despite that the Yahweh character in the Bible stories had no problems with them.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
