Yeah, one of the defenses I've seen regarding this is the famous "lost in translation" defense that so many Christians love to use to explain why certain words don't mean what they mean, but mean something else. In this case, it was the claim that the word "generation" doesn't refer to a group of people living in the same time frame, but it had a second definition meaning "all Jewish people." In which case then the "generation" still exists because Judaism still exists today. Strange that in other passages Jesus or God refer to "my people" and not "my generation." Not even my "ge-ge-ge-ge-generation."
