And what about all of Jesus' failed prophecies of the end of the world and returning in his listeners' lifetimes? What about the fact that the messiah was supposed to be a military leader with an earthly kingdom, which Jesus never was? What about "he shall be called Immanuel" which Jesus never was in the New Testament?
Jesus was stabbed, wasn't he?
I think we'd all agree that the end of the world hasn't happened yet, so Jesus could still be right. And Jesus was right, the generation He was talking to saw the destruction of the temple in 70 AD, the question they were asking about.
I agree that the Messiah was predicted to be a military leader with an earthly kingdom, and I still think He will be. I know you might view this as a complete copout, but I'm agreeing with you that this is what was promised so one should expect it to be so.
I'm sure you know that Immanuel literally means "God with us" which is what many viewed Jesus as.
I'm posting this not really to start a fight or to disrespect. To be honest, I'm not sure what to expect.
Okay, I'll bite. Now what does any of this have to do with the OP. Why should a reasonable, clear thinking person think the bible is true. Are you one of those people whose faith is first and foremost in the bible? Or do you have a secret friend? If the answer is both I have a hypothetical question. If your secret friend and the bible contradicted, which would you favor?
