Just add that to the pile of things that the Xtians changed so that they would not be associated directly with the Jews - Like the commandment "Keep Holy the Sabbath" was changed to go to church on Sunday and give money!
Of course - in the olden days it was not unusual to refer to a person based on their profession - so a man who sewed clothes (A tailor) - would be called a Needleman.
And a person who could not do anything of value would be called a PRIEST.
