You should also request a copy of school policies regarding the matter. As it is a secular school, ideally, there should be some form of protection in place for equal religious rights but that may not be the case.(November 4, 2013 at 9:47 am)Aral Gamelon Wrote: Your teacher made a mistake that, if made in certain parts of the U.S (frankly it should be all areas but such as it is), would get him severely reprimanded if not canned. He involved himself in religious matters and shamed you for your non-belief in front of others, which is completely unacceptable for a state paid teacher.
I don't know though...it's a private school, though secular. Does that rule still apply?
At any rate you should not let some music teaching twat waffle suppress your beliefs in a public manner like that unchallenged. It's a hard thing to do when faced with opposition from an authority figure, but usually worth it in the long run (or so I have found it to be). That being said I strongly advise that you research into the facilities policies, and state/federal laws that are applicable to a private school before initiating or answering to such a discussion. While defense of one's beliefs is highly important, expulsion or other disciplinary actions exacted over it may not be worth it for you.
