Assume you are outside of a room. This isn't just a regular room. It is a room with a tv in it, and as a child, you were taught that it was on channel 7 all the time.
In fact, there is even a TV guide you get in the mail every week, and you had been taught that the only way to make it into the room is to devote your life to the TV.
One day, you press your ear against the door.
If you hear nothing, examine argument A, if you hear a noise, go to argument B.
A. If there is no noise, it is more logical to assume that the TV is off.
B. If you hear noise, you can not be sure that it's channel 7.
