If somebody is on life support, and I pull the plug, why is it that you would recognize a decrease in their chances of waking up?
Would it have something to do with evidence?
Conversely, if somebody was in seemingly perfect health, would you give them a higher probability of waking up?
Clearly there's no way to know for certain, but at times, there is better reason to believe some will wake up tomorrow while recognizing that there are others that may not be so lucky.
GC makes the definition of faith obvious when he uses examples like the one above.
Faith: Pretending to know things you don't know.
Personally, I try to minimize the amount of times I do that. To people like GC, it's a virtue to pretend to know things one doesn't know.
