Again, why? I don't know any atheists in despair because they're atheists. I know some clinically depressed atheists and some clinically depressed theists who are pretty despairing, but this doesn't seem to be a religious thing. Unless, again, you count the despair of being 13 and married to a Mormon prophet, or not being allowed an education, or having your clitoris cut off.
