Interestingly and famously, when prayer was subjected to double blind tests by the religiously motivated Templeton Foundation regarding patients recovering from serious surgery, those that were being prayed for without their knowledge fared no better than those who weren't at all. Worse, the ones who were told they were being prayed for actually were worse off, suffering more complications and relapses.
