Wasn't the actual 'sin of Onan' avoidance of giving his brother's widow an heir? In other words, the problem wasn't masturbation, it was birth control in a situation where the law required him to at least make a good faith attempt to sire a child.

What would have been cool is if you could have whipped out the Bible verse that supports masturbation being against the will of God. Asking him to prove that the Bible doesn't support it just makes me think you don't know of anything in the Bible that says otherwise.
