I wrote this letter to one of those christian journal advisers in the news paper to see what they would say:
"I have a 5 year old son and we are having trouble getting him to eat. We cook pretty much the same foods most people eat: meats, veggies, etc...however our son is only willing to eat Mcdonalds and pizza hut foods. We tried to set a boundary that "if you don't eat what we make, you won't get anything else", however now he is getting very underweight.
So what is the Christian thing to do? If we "give in" and get him MCD and pizza hut everyday people will say we are bad parents with no discipline. But if we try to be strict and let him starve, people will say we are bad parents who killed their child."
I always thought parents have it rough. They always get blamed so hard if their kids misbehave and many times those parent do everything they possibly can for the child. Seems especially tough with Christian communities, when I used to go to church there was SO MUCH gossip it made me sick, about how so and so's kid is hyperactive or disruptive and how the child would be totally different if they were the parent. Like how they say, people always have advice to give on what you're doing wrong :/
