I've said numerous times that there were all kinds of manuscripts floating around but they were not the Bible. The Vulgate was the first book that qualified as the Bible and it was written by a committee of Englishmen as a gift to the Pope. There were a couple of other copies and that was it. No one else had the book. Wycliffe and his committee came along and write their version and people gained access to it. The main reson so many people believe in it is that it was written by Englishmen, which gave it credibility.
