I have dipped in and out of this thread and wondered whether the point has been raised that despite legality or morality women have always had abortions, often in horrific and dangerous ways that threatened their own lives.

Given these facts the ability for women to have safe abortions and easy access to contraception is a more moral stance.
The vilifying of people who abort leads to this sort of thing.

Quote:Incidents in the U.S. after 1973
In 2005, the Detroit News reported that a 16-year-old boy beat his pregnant, under-age girlfriend with a bat at her request to abort a fetus. The young couple lived in Michigan, where parental consent is required to receive an abortion. In Indiana, where there are also parental consent laws, a young woman by the name of Becky Bell died from an unsafe abortion rather than discuss her pregnancy and wish for an abortion with her parents.
