You know, the sad thing is, as someone who's lived through a traumatic childhood, I can almost ("almost" being the key word) understand the impulse to kill her, if only because, especially in such a repressive climate, things can only get worse. I can easily imagine her life ending up like a Muslim Tess Durbeyfield.
Of course, killing her as a matter of honour? And the authorities know about this and actually facilitate it? That's truly fucked up. And, seriously, if they were so damn intent on killing their daughter, why broadcast it and not just do it?
