I just checked by using a different unlogged-in browser and indeed the button exists... however, once you press it, you are taken to the login page.

Think about it, if there was a way to do that, how much spam would you get on your e-mail? Just from all the e-mail addresses seeking bots alone!
Oh, and if it's relevant (since rev mentioned CD), unlike you Esq, CD doesn't have his e-mail available to the general public.
So it seems that the only way to contact people about a potentially unfair ban is to create a sock account.... which will then be banned as soon as a mod realizes that it's a sock.
