Of course you've got to consider how common it was to record anything at that time and what purposes called for writing. There weren't magazines such People at the time so it is hard to imagine what written venue existed for printing a story about a carpenter prone to rages at money changers. The evidence which might dissuade you seems pretty safely unlikely.
