I think people need to be careful what they mean when they say "fiscally" conservative. For example I am also fiscally conservative and a social liberal. Morally I can't be a republican because in my opinion, their morals are lacking.

But I also don't consider republicans fiscally conservative. If anything they are fiscally irresponsible. Democrats at least try to collect the taxes to pay for what they feel is needed for the country. Republicans are too busy trying to make the deficit as big as they can (when they are in power) or sabotaging the economy when they aren't in power.

Yeah, our fiscal choices are between 'tax and spend' Democrats and 'borrow and spend' Republicans. It's been that way starting with Reagan.
