Verset 31

Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidence, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allâh by committing the major sins) in the land!)
Allah says what means

In other words Muhammad came to the Children of Israel and said that he has clear proofs and evidence of their misdeeds.
The contemporaries of Muhammad where some jewish tribes living near Mecca known as the "Al Khoreishi".
Muhammad apparently learnt from them about the Old testament and imposed at the beginning of his new religion on his followers to make their prayers facing the direction of Jerusalem.But afterwards they quarelled about certain issues and the Jews rejected him.
The first battle he won was against the 'Al Khoreishi" which he managed to destroy.
The quoted verset as well as others alike in the Qur'an express his hatred against the Jews which inspires up today the position of Ahmedinajad,Hamas,Hizbullah,Al Qaida and other peacefull and enlighted
islamic groups.
