Ugh, some of these fucking headlines make me sick: https://www.facebook.com/topic/Richard-D...9604843827
"Atheist Richard Dawkins Just Said Something So Outrageous That You'll Think It Came From ISIS"
"Richard Dawkins Exposes the Immorality of His Atheism"
"Militant Atheist Richard Dawkins: It's 'Immoral' To Let Down Syndrome Babies Be Born"
Some random quote from a nobody dickwad:
Let's get one thing fucking straight. Dawkins was incredibly tactless, yes. But he's not wrong. He's also not immoral, and it makes me absolutely fucking sick that the religious contingent in all of this have the audacity to even dare take the moral fucking high ground. What planet are these people living on? How many fucking women have died as a result of religious pressure not to get an abortion even when having a baby is life threatening to the mother. How many kids are born into poverty because contraception is thought of as some kind of demonic plague by the religious. And these same people sit there and tarnish atheism (and indeed atheists on the whole) as immoral? As though his atheism even has anything to do at all with his stance on abortions? As though their own ideologies are not incredibly fucked up? Fuck these stupid fucking people.
I also hate the way they report on this and take what he said out of context. He didn't say it's immoral to let down syndrome babies be born. He said it would be immoral to bring it into the world if you have the choice. There's a fucking difference.

Quote:Richard Dawkins' comments about Down syndrome are not only morally troubling, but they also reinforce negative stereotypes that do little to help the atheist activist community.
But in the spirit of free speech, while I am disturbed by what was said, I defend the right of Dawkins to share his views.
Sigh.
