I think the U.S. and U.K. should stay out of it. Let the Turks and Saudis work with the Syrian and Iraqi governments to get rid of them; they should be more than capable.
I think they will stay out of it: their positions are too well established.
I'm not sure where the Turks stand at the moment, but I think the Saudis support the rebels so I'm not sure they would work with Assad. In any case they never seem to intervene directly, which is probably what's needed.
