This story is a tad old but I just watched a video on what we know of the life of the composer Antonio Vivaldi.

For those who don't know anything about him, he played two roles in his life as priest and musician. From what I know, he kind of reminded me of MASH's father Mulkahy, taking care of orphans. He organized the orphans under his care into an orchestra.
Before I'd seen the video, I knew his life didn't end well. He died in poverty in Vienna. I'd always wondered why. He was a priest. Didn't he have the Church to fall back on?
Nope. They fucked him.
It seems he ran afoul of church politics and really got on the bad side of some powerful figures in Rome. After a life of taking care of orphans and writing great music for the Church, they turned on him over his alleged relationship with the singer, Anna Gio, and pretty much destroyed his career.
She was an adult so I guess that made the affair completely unpalatable to the cardinals in Rome. Who knows if we might have more of his music today but for those sanctimonious kiddy fuckers.
