The system is designed to be a natural world. He doesn't go out of his way to make kids starve. He doesn't go out of his way to create earthquakes or create diseases. These are part of the natural evolution of the world.
I think their is wisdom in creating a natural universe. I just see the one who created it from the start had love in mind.
That sounds almost Catholic in nature, "suffering is good".
I don't know about the tenets of Islam and if suffering is one of them but it always strikes me as a weak justification.
Suffering isn't good. It can be a cause of good in a overall system however, but it doesn't mean all forms of it are good or we should not try to avoid it or decrease it for others. For one the very benefits of having it is the compassion to alleviate suffering from one another and trying to find peace. Having a natural universe I believe is wiser then a perfect universe for the first life. I believe the next life is where the universe and life would be different but that this life is where we make relationships, get our own judgement, make friends, make our mark in the world, leave a legacy, and do our best to bring about good to the world. The next world is where everything is made perfect for us. So it's upon us to hope and be patient.
In Islam, patience is seen as such a high virtue that thousands of degrees of rank will be given for it.
I would think a better word would be serenity.
We need
Serenity to accept what we can't change
Courage to change what we can
And wisdom to know the difference.
Just to live according to these words, I think it's worth it to have this troubling world.
