Now the left likes to spin it as if Clinton was impeached for getting a blow job.Fucktard, I already corrected you on this quibble of yours. Now I realize that you're stupid but that you repeat this same argument suggests you're either brain damaged or lying.
Clinton was impeached for obstruction and perjury *ABOUT* his blow job. The GOP was completely out of control for impeaching him and clearly doing so for political motives. The case could have been settled with a plea bargain where Clinton accepted a $500 fine and Congressional censure.
The next administration featured a president who lied us into a war of aggression. Any talk of impeachment was pooh-poohed as "shrill". The standards flipped as soon as the GOP was in power.
Quote:That is not true. Clinton was investigated for getting a blow job.
Clinton was under a series of frivolous investigations for a variety of non-scandals like Whitewater. The standard of investigation then was "even the appearance of impropriety". The fact that the nation was at war at the time was of no concern. "We owe it to our troops fighting for our ways to uphold the constitution" was the attitude at that time.
Finally, one investigation after the next wore Clinton down until he said something stupid while in the hot seat. He denied having sex with a woman who'd given him a blow job. He says by "sex" he was thinking of full blown sex but regardless, the GOP had their "Ah ha! We got him!" moment and had their excuse, however flimsy, to impeach for political reasons.
Then W Bush came into power. Immediately, the standard of investigation flipped from "even the appearance of impropriety" to absolute deference. "How dare you criticize our president, you traitor. Shut up and salute." Suddenly the nation being at war no longer meant we owed it to our troops to uphold our constitution. Rather, the war was part of the excuse to squash criticism.
Then Obama came into power. Once again, the standard of investigation flipped right back to "even the appearance of impropriety" and there have once again been a series of Congressional investigations into frivolous non scandals. So far, they don't have their fig leaf to mask their politically motivated impeachment. Stay tuned.
But what really disgusts me is not that fucktards like yourself are infinitely programmable to the point where you can flip back and forth depending on the needs of the party at the time, with no memory that your standards were completely different several years ago. What is so disgusting about our political discourse is there is no media that will call you out on it. The right-wing enabling media will happily flip back and forth as needed.
Just watch. Now that the GOP has the Senate, our media will go from "well, it just takes 60 votes to do anything, you know" to "why are the Democrats abusing the filibuster?" The standards will change as power chances hands.
Just watch. You heard it here first.
